Description

An Austrian company has developed a pipeline cleaning system with an air water jetting procedure which enables an effective way of water pipe cleaning without use of chemicals. 

Air water jetting is a simple but effective procedure to clean drinking water pipelines applicable everywhere without structural measures. It removes iron, manganese, humus, sludge, sand and other sediments without any chemicals in a low manner. The function of the valves is improved, pumps in pressure pipelines are relieved, that as a consequence the energy consumption decreases. In the air water jetting procedure high flow velocities are up to 25m/s. The air water mixture creates turbulence and cavitation phenomena that causes a thorough loosening of the deposits from the pipe walls.

The selected cleaning section is shut off from the rest of the network. Based on the network parameter cooled, oil-free, sterile air is introduced in the pipeline via hydrants by a computer-controlled air conditioning system. At the same time water is supplied at the start of the pipeline by slightly opening a valve. Air water jetting is carried out at lower pressures than the normal operating pressure, evenly and without water hammer, in order to avoid pipe bursts.

The system works on the basis of constant water procedure rather than impulse flushing procedure.

The final pipe flushing is done through hydrants and drains. At each end of the line the air water mixture is flushed out through house connections.

The system is usable for maintenance cleaning and initial cleaning of new pipelines. It is based on an optimized air-water ratio for the respective pipe diameter, combined with a project tailored control system and the long experience of our experts.

The pipeline cleaning is characterised by lower pressure than the operating pressure and therefore the raw material cannot be damaged compared to high-pressure cleaning. The new systems will be further developed in a systematic manner and offers different programmes (standard mode, runtime mode with different mixing ratio and insertion cycle) which allow an individual adaption to specific situations in the pipeline.

The company is looking for international partners for commercial agreements with technical assistance, also license agreements are possible. In addition, cooperation in research projects at the company’s own test, research and training centre are sought.
