Summary

A Brussels-based international network for contemporary performing arts is looking for partners in the academic field – Universities with expertise in social change, processes, empowerment, etc. - to join its 36-month H2020 consortium for TRANSFORMATIONS-17-2019 and share expertise in impact evaluation (deadline: 14 March 19). The project will develop pan-European approaches to capturing, understanding and evaluating the impact of art practices addressing societal challenges.

Description

A Brussels-based - International network regroups performing arts organisations and individual members working in the contemporary performing arts worldwide: theatre, dance, circus, interdisciplinary live art forms, new media. Its members include festivals, companies, producers, theatres, research and resource centers, universities and institutional bodies.
It holds two plenary meetings a year in different European cities, and smaller meetings all over the world. Besides, it commissions publications and research projects, facilitates communication and distribution of information, and advocates for the value of performing arts.

Many of its members are engaged with the societal challenges of today, aiming their projects at combatting all forms of social exclusion, as well as changing the attitudes and helping those at risk of marginalisation to integrate the societies they live in.
Among other assets, as a large network, it has a unique and direct access to vast expertise and experience of the art field itself, in all its diversity in terms of geographic spread, organisation size and type, as well as art forms.
It is also running research in the framework of its series of publications “Fresh Perspectives”, on how art is engaged with various social issues, such as gender equality, politic, freedom of expression, environment, migration, and more.

The novelty and the impact of the project is developping pan-European approaches to capturing, understanding and evaluating the impact of art practices addressing societal challenges. It will result in elaborating inclusive and timely policy frameworks, relevant to the multidisciplinarity of the work aimed at bringing social change. The project will also produce guidelines for art professionals on how to engage in socially impactful practices.

The network is a consortium applying for the H2020 call TRANSFORMATIONS-17-2019 (deadline: 14 March 19). The project will have a duration of 36 months. It already has 9 confirmed partners and 8 arts organisations interested. To complete the consortium, it is looking for partners in the academic field – Universities with expertise in social change, processes, empowerment, impact evaluation. The 9 confirmed partners are mostly academic, but also associations and non-profit organisations, which will bring balance to answer this difficult challenge for the arts.

The deadline for this EoI is 08 March 2019.
