Summary

A Turkish company which created a greenhouse with a vertical farming concept established a consortium consisting of Turkish, German, Danish and Greek partners in order to submit a project proposal to Horizon 2020-Green Deal Call-Area 6: "Testing and demonstrating systemic innovations in support of the Farm-to-Fork Strategy". The project's goal is to bring solution to sustainability and security of food production and supply systems. The Consortium looks for additional partners.

Description

The consortium who has been working on a project proposal to be submitted to the Horizon 2020-Green Deal Call-Area 6 consists of German and Turkish companies and Danish, Greek and Turkish universities. The aim of the project is to minimize the energy consumption in food production in soilless agriculture, to maximize savings in water and fertilizer use and to deliver safe and durable foods to consumers in the shortest way without using any harmful pesticides. 

For this purpose, the Turkish company has developed a highly efficient, fully controlled and enclosed greenhouse with a vertical farming concept for the "Farm-To-Fork" call. The company will be responsible for the design of the double facade of the construction and for its integration with underground heat exchanger pipes. The company will also facilitate solar power to heat/cool the pipes by TECs (thermoelectric) and finally will design a solar wall to increase chimney effect and sunlight reflection. According to the location, the company may introduce underground water pool or PCM for heat storage. The Turkish company shall also be responsible of facade and piping works.

Furthermore,
- The Greek university is responsible for developing the solar and TECs technologies,
- The German company contributes to OPV film tech.,
- The Danish university designs the artificial lightning,
- The Turkish university is responsible for the biotechnology related studies.

In order to finalize the establishment of the consortium, the partners look for other collaboration partners from companies and research institutions active in:

- innovative waste recycling,
- innovative liquid fertilizers and nutritional products,
- personalized dietary solutions
- waste food management
- vertical farming
- agro-food

The coordinator will be chosen among the partners.

The project proposal will be submitted to the Green Deal Call Area 6: "Testing and demonstrating systemic innovations in
support of the Farm-to-Fork Strategy". Deadline for the call is 26 January 2020, whereas the deadline for the EoI is 30 November 2020.
