Electronic Logbook Solution for Industrial Operations

Country of Origin: Switzerland
Reference Number: TOCH20180328001
Publication Date: 28 March 2018

Summary

A Swiss SME has developed an innovative e-logbook solution for industrial operations in collaboration with space agencies. The proposed solution is faster than traditionally handwritten logbooks and includes innovative collaboration and traceability features. The Swiss SME seeks a commercial agreement with technical assistance, a license or a technical cooperation agreement with strategic partners with access to other industrial markets or potential users to jointly develop use cases.

Description

This e-logbook offers an innovative approach towards the standard paper based log solutions. The flexibility of this product allows for complete customization and use in different sectors. The web-based approach improves efficiency and logging speed.

This product features a modern user interface and integrates advanced collaboration features. The user interface has been designed with the support and feedback of real operators and it includes shortcuts and aids to speed-up frequent and repetitive tasks.

The collaboration features respond to the growing need of organisations to:
• Trigger discussions around a specific event in order to collect important information to be used in the analysis process.
• Share with colleagues anomalous or ambiguous situations.
• Add contextual information to help in the understanding of the situation at hand.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments on any issue.
This innovative logbook offers several features that support collaboration and an intuitive and productive user interface:
• Log entries with timestamp, author, severity, type and group, to improve classification and relevance.
• Templates and prepared sequences, to save time during regular operations and to avoid manual errors.
• Attachments and collaborative comments, to provide contextual information for further analysis.
• Full traceability with revisions and review justifications, to adhere to quality procedures.
But it also goes above and beyond the creation of log entries and also supports the monitoring and analysis of the ongoing operations thanks to its:
• Multi-logbook capabilities, to organise your logbooks to match your organisation.
• Different browsing views: per day, last modified and more.
• Search and filter across logbooks & save and reuse filters
• Subscribe to highly configurable RSS feeds and email alerts
The Swiss SME designed its innovative logbook with open interfaces to integrate with other existing systems.

The automation features make use of the information in your systems to its full potential:
• Create automatic entries in your logbooks triggered by an event in an external system.
• Provide context information from an external system to better illustrate a log message.
• Create templates with placeholders that are automatically completed when used.
• Generate reports including consolidated data from other systems.

The product is web-based and mobile ready and its service-oriented and modular design makes it versatile and easy-to-fit into any existing infrastructure.

This technology has been designed and developed with users in the space industry, who operate 24/7 flying spacecraft in a wide range of operation modes. It currently supports 10+ European missions involving 30+ spacecraft.

The Swiss SME is looking for two distinct types of collaboration:
• Licensing: strategic partners in an industry other than space, who would be willing to license and integrate the solution within their portfolio, e.g. the logbook could be an optional module in a turnkey solution for a production line management system.
• Technical cooperation agreement, or commercial agreement with technology assistance: potential users with technical agreements in an industry other than space, who would be interested in using the logbook for their operations and would be willing to provide the company with use cases and scenarios relevant to their specific industry.
