Description

This technology is an on-site testing method for assessing the residual life of aged transformers. Furfural analysis

 is a very useful method for analyzing the degradation of insulating materials in oil-immersed transformers.

This simple test kit developed using aniline-acetate reaction can be used to directly test samples obtained on-site.

This test kit is comprised of three steps: furfural extraction using the extraction solution, aniline-acetate reagent reaction with a special filter, and quantifying the resulting color by comparing against the standard coloration chart.

This technology will provide a highly economical and inexpensive method for life cycle management in industries that use transformers. 

The research plans to use it in the aging assessment of distribution & transmission transformers



This technology Step of preparing standard solutions of furfural by concentration, reacting the deteriorated insulating oil with aniline-acetate, The step of simply measuring the furfural concentration in the deteriorated insulating oil by comparing the color represented by the reaction with the hue of the furfural standard solution, allows screening of on-site samples faster than existing technologies
