Description

The Singapore SME is a manufacturer in the electric water heater industry.This patent-pending microbe encapsulation coating-based technology developed by the SME can be applied swiftly and simply to quickly form a perfect seal around live and dead microbes. The polymer in the solution starts to crosslink during evaporation to form a network that encapsulates the bacteria. 

Used in hand sanitisers, this coating-based technology encapsulates microbes to facilitate the effective removal of bacteria from hands. The encapsulated dead and live bacteria are shred off with a rubbing action, and a bioshield – an invisible, nano-thin film – will form on the hand. This forms a protective barrier against microbes which may land on the hands after sanitisation.

Traditional hand sanitisers kill bacteria, but dead bacteria remain as they are neutralised and not removed. The almost-dead bacteria may resurrect and develop resistance, while residual toxins are harmful, and any remnants left may support more new bacteria growth.

The Singapore company seeks to work MNE/SMEs of all sizes to explore the following types of cooperation:

i) Licensing agreement - The Singapore company would license the technology to develop and incorporate it into their dry mist robot.

ii) Commercial partnership with technical assistance - Both parties will cooperate commercially with technical consultancy and support provided by the Singapore company.

When used for disinfectants for disinfection gates, the technology offers the following advantages:
− Bioshield function offers extra protection and makes it easier to maintain high hygiene levels

When used for surface disinfectants/antimicrobial surface coatings, the technology offers the following advantages:
− Simple one-step application method (misting is one option)
− Instant disinfection with lasting antimicrobial effect
− Embedded multi-biocides/virucides make it effective against a broad range of microbes and lowers risk of microbes developing resistance

When used in toilet-related products and toilet market, the technology offers the following advantages:
− Anti-smell coating for toilet bowl/urinal, which also reduces bacteria growth
− Reduces amount of water used for flushing by about 50%
