Description

The Slovak company was established in February 2007 by a group of researchers with extensive experience in the field of biotechnology, nanotechnology, analytical chemistry and bioanalysis, material engineering, electronics and microelectronics. Since its foundation, the Slovak company has been actively collaborating with many national and international R&D institutes. 

As of today, the company is focused on seeing through the implementation of successful business ideas and plans into reality. This currently means "portable laboratories" dedicated to wine production, food production, brewing industry, juice production, and so on.

Compared to previous solutions present nowadays at the market, the portable wine analyser has some interesting characteristics, which include: its small dimensions; easy use, which doesn’t require specialised personel; reasonable times of measurement, which allow to operate almost everywhere.

This new technology for analyses of wine is in a preparation stage. The development, production and marketing proceeding will be in close collaboration with potential partner. Portable wine analyser is designed mainly for small and medium enterprises in wine industry and for large wine companies, as well. It is suitable especially for small wine makers and for wine lovers.

The use of portable wine analyser is simple without a need of special trained personnel. The system does not use any dangerous reagents. The portable laboratory consists of the following key elements:
- electrochemical biosensors,
- electronic measuring unit as a simple and universal platform of detection,
- reagent kits.

Analysis can be performed practically at any place, because the system is designed to be “all inclusive” and can be battery operated. The result of analysis is ready within few minutes from switching on the device. Portable wine analyser enables to measure contents of sugars, alcohol, sulphites, malic, lactic, acetic (volatile), and tartaric acid, total acids and pH value. For measurement of each component appropriate biosensor will be used.

The partners from the wine industry are sought to cooperate via license agreement - this company is looking for further licensees who will use this technology. This type of cooperation was selected, because it fits the cooperation requirements of this company in a most suitable way. The technology is already successfully used by some Slovak and European wine making companies. Incentives and ideas for further possible development of this technology are also welcomed.
