Summary

The innovative UK start-up has developed a legal services chatbot that enables legal providers to deliver faster, better and more cost effective legal services to SMEs and individuals.
The chatbot is multi-channel and works as an app for iOS and Android, websites and Amazon Alexa. It is disrupting how legal services are bought by SMEs and individuals. The company is looking for collaboration with partners under licensing agreements.

Description

A UK based company that has developed a number of chatbots, AI and data science solutions has now developed an innovative solution to change the way SMEs and individuals buy legal services. The solution enables users to get a rapid service, ranging from free for automatic queries to request for legal services in human format, on a device of their choosing at a time of their choice.
The technology is based on the RASA bot (open source chatbot framework) for conversational AI, asking the questions a solicitor would normally ask, and then feeding the answers into a grakn (open-source, distributed knowledge graph database for knowledge-oriented system) based knowledge graph to develop further questions, and provide a summary of the legal matter, an indication of the merits of the matter, average time to resolve the matter, and average cost to resolve the matter.
A key feature of the solution is the ability to ‘read-in’ the problem space, and make decisions from it, through a deep learning model using KGCN (Knowledge Graph Convolutional Network). This feature enables the solution to get smarter each time a question is asked, and identify relevant factors faster. As the solution develops more experience, it will be able to make rational decisions with at least the same accuracy as a solicitor in a given legal framework (e.g. the law of England and Wales for redundancy, tenancy and employment).
This solution can be adapted to any language that utilises the Latin alphabet.

The company are looking to license out the product to providers in other markets under a licensing agreement and this product can be adapted to the legal requirments in other countries.

Advantages and Innovations

3. GDPR compliant from the start of the first interaction with the user.
4. Full record of the interaction available to approved parties (including the user as a timeline) and the information and advice made available to the user.

Innovation
● AI to read legal documents and law texts - creating a bounded AI mode, constantly enhanced through deep learning - CNN
● Generating meaningful question & answer session for users to ascertain the status and options of their legal matter - KGCN
