A large electricity and gas distribution company in the Netherlands is looking for digital technology and software for grid operations and asset investment planning. They are looking for small and medium-sized companies from Western Europe and the Nordics that offer modular innovative software solutions and optimization algorithms capable of integrating into their technical landscape. Cooperation would be in the frame of a technical cooperation or commercial agreement with technical assistance.

Description

The Dutch company is one of the main electricity and gas distribution companies in the Netherlands (DSO), with over 6 Million grid connections. 



The energy transition is changing the demands on their grid: decentralized renewable energy being fed into the grid and changing demand for electricity associated with electric transportation, heating and storage are increasing the need to be able to monitor and control grid assets at all grid levels. 



The digital technology to make this possible is increasingly available in the market, however these solutions aren’t yet well adapted to the energy domain. As a result, the Dutch company is building their own platforms to develop and deploy hardware and software solutions that enable grid management (controlling, monitoring, operating) and investment planning for our grid.



They are looking for innovative SME-companies that offer modular  software solutions and optimization algorithms that can be integrated into their technical landscape. The companies must be located in Western Europe and the Nordics.



The Dutch organization is open to different types of partnerships such as technical cooperation agreement or commercial with technical assistance.

Expertise sought

They are looking for solutions that are capable of operating:

•	in an open architecture;

•	using micro services or;

•	API’s to connect to other systems and data sources. 



Optimization algorithms should be based on: 

•	data science;

•	artificial intelligence;

•	machine learning, etc. 

Hardware sensors and edge devices to be deployed at all grid levels from low voltage to substation as the Dutch company is not a transmission system operator (TSO) high voltage is not in scope.

The Dutch company is looking for SMEs and  Scale Ups. Regional, mid-sized companies with solutions that are already adapted for the energy domain for other DSOs. Mature companies that have already successfully brought their products and services to regional grid operators in their target markets. They are not interested in start-ups!



Type of partners:

•	Product software company;

•	Sensor technology providers;

•	Technology provider or;

•	Market channel to partner’s existing markets (they could provide their technology and solutions as a white label product for use in other markets).  



Other types of partnership can be offered and discussed with the Dutch company.
