Country of Origin: Netherlands
Reference Number: TRNL20200204001
Publication Date: 4 February 2020

Summary

A Dutch world leading retail-organisation is looking for new methods and technologies to improve the monitoring and control of the quality of fruit and vegetables in the supermarket.
The company is looking for partners to develop the applications in the frame of a technical cooperation agreement.
This request refers to an innovation challenge published on an open platform.

Description

The Dutch company is one of the world’s largest food retail groups, a leader in supermarkets and e-commerce, and a company at the forefront of sustainable retailing. The company is active in Europe and the United States and participates in joint ventures in Indonesia.

The company knows exactly what happens to a product until the product ends up in the store. In the store itself the retailer is depending on the skills and know-how of their employees.
Quality checks in the store are based only on visual inspection (the eye) without the use of instruments or tools.
Not all employees in the store have extensive knowledge about fruit & vegetables.

The company is looking for partners to cooperate in the frame of a technical cooperation agreement to develop methods and technologies and find new solutions to reduce ‘shrink’ (a term that is used for wholesale and retail losses) in supermarkets.

Advantages of joining this challenge:
. The opportunity to contribute to reducing loss or ‘shrink’ in supermarkets
. Cooperation with a major retailer
. Access to a large network of partners
. Access to various customer groups
