New procedure for composting of solid and liquid phase animal manures

Country of Origin: Hungary
Reference Number: TOHU20160803001
Publication Date: 5 August 2016

Summary

A Hungarian SME has developed a new procedure for the composting of solid and liquid phase animal manures. It can be used by all kind of animal husbandry companies. The aim of the development was to commute the expensive and environment pollutant chemical fertilizers to environmentally friendly compost based soil manures for plant nutrition under different soil conditions. The SME is looking for industrial partners interested in license and commercial agreement with technical assistance.

Description

The new procedure for the composting of solid and liquid phase animal manures developed by a Hungarian SME can be used by all kind of animal husbandry companies. With the use of this procedure it is possible to replace expensive and environment pollutant chemical fertilizers by environmentally friendly compost based soil manures for plant nutrition under different soil conditions.

The offered composting technology is suitable for composting different solid and liquid phase feedlot manures through recycling of by-products from coal or energy plant combustion. It results in a compost end-product which has high fertilizer value, organic matter, total N (nitrogen), total P (phosphor), total K (potassium) content and harmonious trace element content. The whole composting process is not longer than 70-90 days. Current and Potential Domain of Application: The offered technology can be used by all kind of animal husbandry companies.

The Hungarian SME is looking for industrial partners dealing with animal husbandry or waste management interested in a commercial agreement with technical assistance. The potential partners should be interested in integrating the new technology in order to achieve a more effective waste management procedure.
The company is also seeks potential partners interested in a license agreement to reach new markets and widen partnership network of the company.

Advantages and Innovations

Utilization of environmentally friendly additives or masking agents reduces odor emission, odor intensity significantly before the composting procedure. The untreated manure is placed onto
the compost-based bed during pre-storage for reducing total N loss and DPR (dissolve reactive phosphorus) content. The offered technology is suitable for reuse of soil-phase biogas residues.

It provides the complex utilization of water treatment residual and by-products from coal or energy plant combustion. The controlled composting technology provides the preservation of agronomic value during the pre-storage of untreated manure and maturation of compost with special regard to intensive stage of composting.

The utilization of environmentally friendly by-products (essential plant oils) results in significant reduction in total coliform and f. streptococcus number within 48 hours. The complex utilization of animal manures, water treatment residues and by-products from energy plant and coal combustion provides the reduction of environmental risk during composting and land disposal of compost product. The compost end-product is a potential organic source for a direct land disposal under integrated or ecological management system. The result of full-scale experiments demonstrated that compost product is suitable for soil improvement in acidic mine spoils or municipal solid waste landfills during recultivation.
